A brief introduction of Huang Mingli intelligence philosophy
and how it shows a creative new thinking approach

Abstract: What is Intelligence Philosophy? What are the three laws of Intelligence Philosophy? Why is it certain for Intelligence Philosophy to come into being in history? What is the great significance of Intelligence Philosophy? What is Dasanyuan-philosophy (The Chinese da, san, yuan in Dasanyuan, 大三元,means “big” or “great”, “three”, and “primitive” in English, respectively.)? What is three-point thinking approach? How is three-point thinking approach of Dasanyuan-philosophy shown in Intelligence Philosophy? How to make philosophy a sharp weapon for the masses? These questions are briefly answered in this paper.

1 A Brief Introduction of Intelligence Pholosophy

(1) What Is Intelligence Philosophy?

The Definition of Intelligence Philosophy

The Characteristics of Intelligence

“Intelligence has somewhat been studied in Psychology, Brain Science, Thinking Science, Artificial Intelligence, etc. However, it has not been studied from the philosophical perspective. So there is still the need of being studied accordingly. Viewed philosophically, the human intelligence has the following characteristics: the ability of holistically viewing things beyond the present and immediate time and space; the ability of scientifically foreseeing what comes in the future before the would-be event happens; the ability of creative practice by mastering mass, energy and information. With these characteristics, intelligence comes to be the self-viewing, self-knowing, self-realizing, self-conscious dynamic force of the universe. Any of these characteristics has not received its respective holistic study by any specific sciences. To meet the progressing steps of our times, the research and development of intelligence in a holistic, all-round, and balancing way is a historic task given to philosophy by our age. The Aim of Intelligence Philosophy

The aim of Intelligence Philosophy is; “to associate and balance the relationships between instinct and intelligence, individual and group intelligence, creators’ intelligence and assistants’/rivals’ intelligence, so as to promote the all-round development of the human race, including that of her economy and society, promote the harmony between human and nature, promote the common creation of a wonderful living environment, for being shared by the whole human race.

(2) The Three Laws of Intelligence Philosophy

Intelligence Philosophy not only has her field of concepts-instinct and intelligence, individual intelligence and group intelligence, agricultural economy and agricultural civilization, industrial economy and industrial civilization, intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization, but also has her laws.

The first law of Intelligence Philosophy-the law of interaction between instinct and intelligence. This law not only tells the source (where did it come from) of human intelligence, but also the direction of human intelligence development (where will it go to), hence called a name, the Law of Intelligence Where-to-Come-and-Go.

The second law of Intelligence Philosophy-the law of development of, and interaction between, individual intelligence and group intelligence. This law faces human practices, telling the general practical development of human intelligence, hence called a name, the law of practical intelligence development.

The third law of Intelligence Philosophy-the law of successes from interaction of opposition and/or cooperation between peer assistors’/rivals’ differences, opposites, and/or similarities. This law, facing the practical development of human civilization, tells that the progress of human civilization is through creation, and that successes in creation is, in turn, through interaction, of opposition and/or cooperation between peer assistors’/rivals’ differences, opposites, and/or similarities, hence called the law of successes in creation. While the three laws are relatively mutual independent, they are interrelated. A basic field of concepts and the three laws of Intelligence Philosophy primarily form a system of thoughts and theories of Intelligence Philosophy.

(3) Birth of Intelligence Philosophy is a Certain Result from the Development of Intelligence Career Economy

When the tangible and intangible wealth of the human being is mainly created and managed by those who are involved in agricultural production and management, the respective civilization created and accumulated is called agricultural civilization.

When the tangible and intangible wealth of the human being is mainly created and managed by those who are involved in industrial production and management, the respective civilization created and accumulated is called industrial civilization.

The human civilization begins with the agricultural economy. The birth and development of the agricultural economy brings about the agricultural civilization. The historical period of this civilization is called the age of agricultural economy. On the agricultural economy and agricultural civilization comes Nature Philosophy.

The industrial economy comes with the birth and development of the industry in terms of large scale production by means of machinery. The respective historical period is called the age of industrial economy. The civilization thus created is called the industrial civilization. On the industrial economy and industrial civilization comes Social Philosophy. The materialist conception of history by Marx is the highest achievement in social philosophy of that age.

With the further development of science and technology, human being comes to live in the internet age, budding with the intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization. The human being begins to march towards the age of intelligence career civilization. On the basis of the intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization, it is certain for a new philosophy to come into being to reflect and match its corresponding economy and civilization. So the time comes for the birth of such a new philosophy, which happens to be the Intelligence Philosophy worked out by Professor HUANG Mingli.

The following is a form of diagram to illustrate the relationships among agricultural economy, industrial economy and intelligence career economy, and the certainty to the birth of Intelligence Philosophy.

(4) The Practical and Historical Significance from the Creation of Intelligence Philosophy

Intelligence Philosophy has its predicting, macro-viewing and directing features. It is no exaggeration that the Intelligence Philosophy created by Professor HUANG Mingli has explained the direction in which our human being march towards the future and which will lead our world to march towards the age of intelligence civilization.

While Marx created the materialist conception of history at the age of steam engine, Professor HUANG Mingli created Intelligence Philosophy at the age of internet. This is a remarkable theoretical creation. Intelligence Philosophy succeeded and developed Marxist philosophy. First, it agrees with Marxist materialist conception of history; Second, it agrees with the materialist dialectics of Marxist Philosophy; Third, it is in accordance with the characteristics of the intelligence career economy age. Therefore, Intelligence Philosophy is both a succeeding and an advancing of Marxist Philosophy.

With his knowledge-wide and profound, observation power-able to see afar from aloft, and comprehension ability-keen and careful, HUANG Mingli has firmly caught the characteristics of our time, created , in time, Intelligence Philosophy, which explains explicitly the potentiality and necessity of human history going from the industrial civilization towards intelligence career civilization, hence, revealing and brightening the optimum direction in which the human race may choose for further development into the new age of intelligence career civilization. This is his extraordinarily remarkable contribution to mankind.

The truth of Marxist theory lies not only in its correctness at the time of its creation, but also in its approval through human practices after its creation. Likewise, the truth of Intelligence Philosophy created by HUANG Mingli lies not only in its correctness at the time of its creation, but also in its approval through human practices after its creation.

2 Intelligence Philosophy-the Cream of the Spirit at Our Time

(1) What Kind of Age Is Ours?

As is known, the contemporary industrial revolution started in England in the 18th century, then spread all over Europe, and even the rest of the world. Since then up to now, the world has been in the age of industrial civilization. The development of the industrial civilization has made great changes to our world. Today, in terms of science and technology, we are increasingly living at the age of computers and internets. In terms of economy, we are now moving towards the age of intelligence career economy. In terms of the form taken by human civilization, we are now at the beginning of the age going towards intelligence career civilization.

The advent and prevailing of computers and internets has made the people of the whole world closely interconnected. In an increasing degree, the world has become a global village, where the human being comes to be the villagers who are sharing interconnected interests and an interrelated destiny. That the computer and internet come into people’s daily life, predicts the budding and flourishing of intelligence career economy, and marks the sign that we have been in the condition of moving towards the age of intelligence career civilization.

(2) The Budding of Intelligence Career Economy and Intelligence Career Civilization Needs Their Respective New Philosophy

Since ours is the age for the budding of intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization, such new economy and civilization will certainly give birth to a new respective philosophy matching this age. Then, what kind of philosophy is needed by intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization? What kind of new philosophy is bound to be born in the history of this age?

At the first stage of the industrial economy at the age of the steam engine, Marx discovered the materialist conception of history and created its respective theory. This is a great historical contribution. Now human being has far surpassed the steam engine age, and also gone beyond the electrical age. We have begun to enter the computer and internet age. The world has started to march towards the age of intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization. The development of this new age requires new philosophical thoughts, and will certainly give birth to new philosophical thoughts.

Intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization needs a new philosophy, which is able to reflect the features of the respective age, and to meet the needs of this age. This new philosophy happens to be Intelligence Philosophy created by Professor HUANG Mingli.

(3) Intelligence Philosophy is the Cream of Time Spirit of Intelligence Career Civilization

Why do we say that Intelligence Philosophy is the cream of time spirit of Intelligence Career Civilization?

First, Intelligence Philosophy resulted from the needs of adaptation for the development of our agerepresenting and leading our age, hence becoming the scream of our time spirit.

Second, Intelligence Philosophy explains explicitly the direction of human development to the future. Firstly, the best choice for the whole world to develop is to go ahead towards intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization. Apart from this choice, there is none for a bright future to our human being. Moreover, Intelligence Philosophy will lead, push, and direct the development of intelligence career economy, intelligence career civilization. Secondly, Intelligence Philosophy will overcome the crisis brought about by the industrial civilization, such as industrial pollution, climate warming up, ecological misbalancing, etc. Thirdly, Intelligence will build up the harmony between human and nature, between human and human, and the harmony within a person himself/herself, so as to make it possible for the human being to move towards the new age of Intelligence Career Civilization.

Third, the three laws of Intelligence illustrate the developing approaches for human intelligence.

Intelligence Career Civilization is a civilization in which the development, building-up, application and growth of Intelligence takes the role of the main career. It is a new civilization based on, and higher than, the industrial civilization,

In terms of economic basis, Intelligence career civilization is the civilization based on intelligence career economy (knowledge economy).

In terms of directing thoughts, Intelligence career civilization is the civilization mainly directed by Intelligence Philosophy.

In terms of the development of history, intelligence civilization is born and developed on the foundation of agricultural and industrial civilizations, will carry forward all the positive achievements made from all the past human civilizations, and will solve the problems left over by industrial civilization, such as environmental pollution, ecological crisis, faith crisis, so on and so forth.

In terms of human practical activities, man will always be involved in career and creative activities. Intelligence Career Civilization is then the civilization in which people are highly self-conscious and self-critical in their career activities. 3 Intelligence Philosophy Shows the Three-point Thinking Approach of Dasanyuan-philosophy

(1) What is Dasanyuan-philosophy?

Dasanyuan-philosophy is a philosophy covering yiyuan (一元, meaning “one primary”), eryuan (二元, meaning “two primaries”) and sanyuan (三元, meaning “three primaries”). Dasanyuan-philosophy is also called Sandianlun-philosophy (三点论, meaningThree Primaries Philosophy).

What Is Yiyuan (一元,One Primary)?

Yiyuan (一元,one primary) refers to one, that is, everything is unified into one. Yi (, one) means a unity. For example, a thing, large as a macro world, one globe, one solar system, one galaxy system, one meta-galaxy system, or small as a micro world, one molecule, one atom, one nuclear, one micro particle, one kind or other. Each of them is unified into one.

Furthermore, the process or period for the development of anything is also unified into one.

The unity of the world lies in its being of matter. The world is unified into matter. The world is unified into one, hence, being of yiyuan (一元,meaning “one primary”).

What Is Eryuan (二元,Two Primaries)?

Eryuan (二元,two primaries) refers to the two respects, or two situational conditions……, divided from one unified thing, and these two primaries are different from each other, interconnected with each other, being opposite to each other, depending on each other, transforming to each other, combining with each other. As we always say: “One divides into two.” Two in here means eryuan (二元,two primaries).

What Is Sanyuan (三元,Three Primaries)?

Sanyuan means that something unified divides into three respects, three states, three situations, or three stages……, which are different from one another, connected with one another, opposite to one another, dependent on one another, transforming to one another, combining with one another-in a simple term, a whole divides into three. “Three” in here, means three primaries.

What is needed to emphasize is that something as a unified one not only divides into two, but also into three at the same time. In our actual analysis of a certain case, “one divides into three” is sometimes very useful. For example, something divides into three states, three parts, three situations, three stages…….

What Is Yuan (, Primary) in Dasanyuan Philosophy?

Yuan (, primary) in Dasanyuan Philosophy, means a philosophical concept that can not further divide into any more primary ones in philosophical thought system analysis. However, in our practical application, the form of three-primary analysis approach presents its colorful variety, with its field of application very wide. In varied cases, the primary may present its variety, taking the form of a point, a respect, a state, a shape, a sort, a kind, a stage, a part, etc. The unlimited forms presented by all kinds of things, make us apply and explain the three-primary approach in our specific analysis with unlimited ways.

Since Dasanyuan-philosophy covers “one primary”, “two primaries”, “three primaries”, the three-point philosophy is called Dasanyuan-philosophy.

(2) What Is Three-point Thinking Approach of Dasanyuan-philosophy?

We say that philosophy is a study of world outlook. Philosophy is both world outlook and methodology. However, world outlook and methodology are both unified with each other and different from each other. World outlook focuses on ontology, i.e. the study of the essence and source of the world. Methodology stresses on the rules for the nature, society and human itself to change and develop.

Dasanyuan-philosophy embraces “one divides into three”,“one divides into two”,“three combine into one”,“three stages combine into one”,“two combine into one”,“two combine into three (the third state).

In terms of division, a thing is of “one divides into three” i.e. a unified thing divides into three primariessuch as in the form of three parts, three stages, three states, etc, which are interrelated, interdependent, inter-transforming. Meanwhile, a thing is also of “one divides into two”, i.e. a unified thing divides into two primariesin the form of parts, stages, states, situations……, which are interrelated, interdependent, inter-opposing, inter-transforming.

In terms of combination, a thing is of “three combine into one”. The three parts, which are opposite to one another, connected with one another, dependent on one another, transforming to one another, combine into one unified thing. A thing is also of “two combine into one”, or of “two combine into three”, i.e. the two poles opposing to each other (or two different parts) combine into that of a third state.

 “Three stages combine into one” means that the three stages in the process of the movement and development of a matter, which are different from one another and also connected to one another, form a whole unified process of that matter in its movement and development. It is not permissible for any of the three stages to miss out. With one missing out, the process of the movement and development of the concerned matter would not be complete.

(3) Three-point Thinking Approach of Dasanyuan-philosophy Shown in Intelligence Philosophy

The thinking Approach of “One Divides into Three”, “Three stages Combine into One” of Dasanyuan-philosophy Shown in Intelligence Philosophy

First, professor HUANG Mingli scientifically divides the human civilization into the three stages of agricultural civilization, industrial civilization and intelligence career civilization. Agricultural civilization makes agricultural civilization age, with nature philosophy created in this age. Industrial civilization makes industrial civilization age, with social philosophy created. Intelligence career civilization makes intelligence career civilization age, with Intelligence Philosophy created. And he strictly defines what agricultural civilization is, what industrial civilization is and what intelligence career civilization is. Meanwhile he splendidly explains the relationships among agricultural, industrial and intelligence career civilizations. Second, Intelligence Philosophy divides the whole process for human intelligence to come into being, into three stages (three stages combine into one), i.e. “featureinstinctintelligence”, correctly reflecting the whole process for intelligence to come true. For these three stages, none can miss out. Without feature and instinct, intelligence would be like water without source, or a tree without roots. Intelligence is a definite result from the development of feature and instinct.

Third, Intelligence Philosophy divides the process for human to come into being, into three stages, i.e. “ape, would-be human, human”, correctly reflecting the process for human to appear. These three stages can not be cut separate, or be missing.

Fourth, Intelligence Philosophy correctly divides the process of forming labor into three stages, i.e. the ape’s action of seeking foods the animal-like instinctive action human true labor . The Thinking Approach of “Two combine into One” and “Two Combine into Three”(the Third State) Shown with Intelligence Philosophy

First, intelligence is the root and source of human civilization. The root and source comes from the merging of two forks, of which one is from natural evolution (especially the evolution of the brain), and the other from social practice (especially the practice in production). It is that the two forks combine into one that brings about intelligence. Second, “the continuous development of human intelligence after its coming into being is also from the combination of natural evolution and social practice (the two forks combine into one). “……after a human is born, he/shethrough social practicebegins to absorb the achievements made from human evolution, and push ahead the evolution of human civilization with his/her new creative labor. Thus, the human evolution within his/her body and the evolution of civilization out of his/her body combine into one, resulting in the evolution of human intelligence, generation by generation, in the differences between, and the unity of, what has been there before his/her birth and what comes to be after his/her birth, in the differences between, and the unity of, the natural evolution and the social evolution, in the differences between, and the unity of, the tradition of the history and the trend of society……. The result from the coordination between the natural evolution of an individual and the social evolution of society is the combination and unity of these evolutions.” Professor HUANG once more illustrates the differences among, and the unity of, these three respects. This is again a vivid case showing “two combine into one”. Third, of the first two laws of Intelligence Philosophy, each law shows the thinking approach of “two combine into one.

The Thinking Approach of “Three Combine into One” Shown by Intelligence Philosophy (A Unity of a Thing Is Formed by the Combination of Three Respects, Three Parts)

First, the three laws of Intelligence Philosophy form a system of theories for Intelligence Philosophy, showing “three combine into one”.

Second, the third law of Intelligence Philosophy - the third law of Intelligence Philosophy-the law of successes from interaction of opposition and/or cooperation between peer assistors’/rivals’ differences, opposites, and/or similarities. Although the three-point thinking approach has not been described in Intelligence Philosophy created by Professor HUANG Mingli, this approach has been vividly presented in it, just as in the case of Mao Zedong, in which although he had not described the three-point thinking approach, this thinking approach was presented in his works written during the period from 1927 to 1957.

4 Let Our Philosophy Be a Sharp Weapon in the Hands of the Masses

“Let philosophy be freed from the classroom of philosophers and from philosophical books, and become a sharp weapon in the hands of the masses.”(Mao Zedong, in People’s Daily, September 24, 1966.)

The reformation and opening to the outside world, has made China’s economy, science and technology, as well as thoughts and culture develop rapidly. Therefore, China, especially her more developed areas, has also begun to march from the age of industrial economy and industrial civilization to the great new age of intelligence career economy and intelligence career civilization. In this general situation, the philosophy in China is also at a brilliant time of “bai hua ji fang” (meaning: all kinds of flowers are blooming at the same time). Apart from Intelligence Philosophy created by HUANG Mingli, there is Circle-point Philosophy created by MA Jianxun, Du-philosopy by ZHAO Yongchang, and Sanyuan Philosophy created and promoted by experts, scholars, such as LIN Baoqun, YU Mingsan, TIAN Mao etc. The philosophy circles in China show a situation, in which all kinds of flowers are blooming in colorful brightness at the same time, with impacts on philosophy and thought circles of China as well as the outside world.

The problem now lying ahead is how to effectively communicate and make dialogues between the east and west concerning these new philosophical thoughts. If there is a correct theory, but it is only to be used for a while of empty talks with no practical application at all, then, however good the theory might be, it is pointless. By working for lots of sleepless days and nights, with painful efforts and absorbing minds – often forgetting meal times, even working with physical as well as mental hardships through one’s whole life, we have creatively worked out the new philosophical thoughts. “Whether or not philosophy can help make a living for philosophers, true sages (those who are devoted to seeking philosophical reasoning) will try to make philosophy survive with their brains and bloods.” (HUANG Mingli and ZHAO Yongchang: Marching Towards the Human Intelligence Career Civilization-the Theory and Practice of Intelligence Philosophy, P.14, works presented on the Third Forum of Oriental Creative Philosophy, 2009.) If our philosophical thoughts still keep staying in books, studios, or be used for a few self-loving guys to satisfy their own self-enjoyment, then how can our philosophy take the role of leading to the new age!

Professor MA Jianxun points out with his thoughtful mind: “People give philosophy a cold shoulder. That’s because philosophy has first given people a cold shoulder.” (Presentation by MA Jianxun at the First Forum of Oriental Creative Philosophy, Xi’An, China P.R., 2005.) Why do people give philosophy a cold shoulder?  Because nowadays in a substantial degree the philosophical circles have turned philosophy into the philosophy enclosed in school campuses and made philosophy, which should otherwise be vivid and lively, something stiffened – as stereotyped rules, without any value in people’s practical applications.
