Converging Philosophy for the (E) Merging Converging World – An Approach of Synthesis
The new wave of globalisation we are witnessing in the post WTO era is radically transforming the human civilisation at all levels – local, regional, national and global. The transformation is so fundamental in both qualitative and quantitative dimensions, so much so, that we need to have new ways of looking at the world not only to understand it but also to solve the problems emanating from the ‘new world order’. For instance the problems like terrorism, climate change, poverty, etc., cannot be solved in isolation through a piece-meal effort and what we need is a critical minimum holistic approach at the global level. The need of the hour is a new world outlook or a philosophy to solve the emerging problems of the new world order. The problem of contemporary socio-cultural structure is that it is the bi-product of the post industrial revolution, the basis of which is division of labour and specialisation. It is this basis that has segmented the knowledge at all levels, particularly at the base of all knowledge, that is, philosophy. It is this segmentation that has created disconnects between man and nature, religion and philosophy and ritual and spiritualism. It is this disconnect that has led to the emergence of ‘main stream philosophies’ that are far off from The Vedas, The Old testament, etc... The paper not only attempts to explain the unifying force behind all strands of philosophies but also tries to highlight the need for a New Global Converging Philosophy.
